How We Met
Josie and Orion met playing ultimate frisbee in a Manhattan-area league in the summer of 2013. Although the team didn’t win the championships that season, they enjoyed each other's company during the many group hangouts that summer. One day in September, he called her on the phone to officially ask her out on a date and they have been together ever since. They currently live a few blocks from Wall Street and share a studio apartment with Thelma and Louise, the two best kitties.
JOP+OJB
Josie (JOP) is a native New Yorker who grew up as a soccer-playing art nerd. She studied at Amherst College but returned to the city afterwards. She works as a real estate appraiser and spends her spare time painting pet portraits, crafting, and half-marathoning.
Orion (OJB) is a Seattleite who grew up as a soccer-playing computer nerd. He went to college at NYU and stayed in New York afterwards, which is great because eventually he met Josie! His entrepreneurial tendencies continue with Ultiworld, a sports news website focusing on disc sports, which he co-founded and now works on full-time. He is a board game enthusiast and champion bargain hunter.
JOP+OJB spend most of their spare time playing and talking about ultimate and hanging out with Thelma and Louise. Josie sometimes plays board games with Orion and Orion sometimes goes to art museums with Josie, so it works pretty well.
Why Santa Fe, NM
People kept joking, “if your guests are split between the east and west coast, just pick somewhere in the middle!” Little did they realize, that's exactly what we were thinking all along!
Santa Fe was the site of many family vacations throughout Josie’s childhood since her mom is from New Mexico. Josie and Orion went on an awesome trip to NM in the fall of 2016 and he too recognized it as a beautiful state with the best food in the world. Two years later, they realized they wanted to share this unique, scenic and delicious place with friends and family on their wedding day!
